Building Safety Case Report (BSC) Consultant – BSR Compliance
Howatt Consulting is seeking a Building Safety Consultant to support the preparation of Building Safety Case Reports (BSC Reports) and wider Building Safety Regulator (BSR) compliance work across Higher-Risk Buildings throughout the UK.
This role is ideally suited to an individual with experience in fire safety, building safety, surveying, or compliance consultancy who has strong technical writing ability and a detailed understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022 and current BSR expectations.
The successful candidate will work closely with managing agents, developers, freeholders, and Principal Accountable Persons to prepare clear, evidence-based Building Safety Case Reports and associated compliance documentation.
The Role
The role will primarily focus on:
Preparing Building Safety Case Reports (BSC Reports)
Reviewing fire and structural risk information
Coordinating compliance evidence and supporting documentation
Undertaking BSR gap analysis reviews
Preparing fire and structural HAZID assessments
Supporting Building Assessment Certificate (BAC) readiness
Reviewing fire risk assessments, FRAEW reports, compartmentation surveys, and maintenance records
Assisting with Golden Thread and wider building safety compliance requirements
The role may also involve occasional site inspections of Higher-Risk Buildings and liaison with clients, consultants, and contractors.
Essential Requirements
Strong understanding of:
Building Safety Act 2022
Higher-Risk Building requirements
Building Safety Regulator (BSR) expectations
Fire safety and structural risk management principles
Excellent report writing and technical communication skills
Experience working within:
Fire safety consultancy
Building safety consultancy
Surveying
Compliance or property management
Ability to review and interpret technical reports and compliance documentation
Good organisational and document management skills
Full UK driving licence
Preferred Qualifications & Memberships
Membership of a recognised professional body such as:
MIFSM / GIFSM
MIFireE / AIFireE
RICS
CABE
CIOB
Level 4 Fire Risk Assessment qualification or equivalent desirable
Experience preparing Building Safety Case Reports preferred
Experience working on Higher-Risk Buildings desirable
